There are a lot of things the fashion industry does that damages women. The most talked about is the way they glorify anorexia and bulimia by holding models to unrealistic standards for body size. This year, models have been forced to wear ridiculously high heels that they can't walk in. There've been several instances of models falling on the runway, complete with twisted knees and ankles and injured backs.
But the one of the most disturbing things I've seen was Maison Martin Margiela show this week in Paris. They sent all the models down the runway with their faces obliterated. It's so dehumanizing that the pictures made me queasy.

So true, very dehumanizing. I was scared when I saw the picture.
It totally creeped me out. There was another designer later in the week who did the same thing, but he used black masks.
